KIM Han-sol - Episode IV, Striking Back At The Empire?

KIM Han-sol will study political sciences in Sciences Po Le Havre  (see "Un petit-fils de Kim Jong-il à Sciences po" (20130827 - L'Express). The first time KIM Jong-nam's son (KIM Jong-un's nephew, KIM Jong-il's grandson, KIM Il-sung's great-grandson - NB: nothing to do with KIM Yu-na) made the world headlines was when he distanced himself from the North Korean dictatorship as Elisabeth REHN interviewed him for Yle, Finland's public broadcasting company (see videos below):The teenager was then studying at the Mostar campus of United World College because Hong-Kong authorities didn't grant him a student visa, and BIH was a friendlier destination. Han-sol had less trouble living in another SAR, Macau, where his dad majored in Gambling magna cum laude, with an exchange student experience at Tokyo Disneyland University, and a Master's Degree in Fashion Disasters.KIM Han-sol will not study at the main Sciences Po, the prestigious IEP Paris, Rue Saint-Guillaume. But Le Havre campus does makes sense: that's the one devoted to Europe-Asia, all courses are delivered in English, and there's even a Korean language program. The main news, of course, is that a fourth generation KIM is venturing into politics, and for the first time, with notions of actual democracy reaching beyond the experience of life in a Western democracy. And if you don't like KIM Han-sol's ear piercing, that's another positive leap forward from the previous generation:KIM Jong-nam majored in Gambling magna cum laude at Macau International School of Jokers, was an exchange student experience at Tokyo Disneyland University, and got a Master's Degree in Fashion DisastersSeoul Village 2013Welcome to our Korean Errlines! He allowed just three hits in eight shutout innings to earn his first win since his return. He commanded his fastball and changeup well and still needs to improve the location of his curveball.Taking the mound for the Phillies will be left-hander John Lannan, who unlike Beachy, struggled with his command in his first start at Nationals Park since joining the Phillies. Lannan allowed eight runs on nine hits in five innings, and walked a season-high five batters.Phillies notes:Cole Hamels is 3-2 with a 1.98 ERA in eight starts since the end of June. With that ERA, he ranks 10th among qualified pitchers in that span.Phillies will play 25 of their next 35 games at home after their current road trip concludes.Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley are second among active middle infielders in games played together at 1,037 games, behind the combination of Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano (1,039 games).Braves notes:Braves lead the Majors in comeback wins this season with 38.In 17 games since Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez moved Jason Heyward to the leadoff spot, he's hitting .381 with 18 runs and 11 RBIs and has nine multi-hit games in that span, including two more hits in last night's 3-1 win over the Phillies.Braves have had great success against the Phillies as of late, winning 19 of the last 29 meetings between the two clubs.Braves are 18-4 in their last 22 games.

Will Chris Brown Really Retire? A Look Back At Temporary Retirees

Retirement for most people involves extensive planning and financial consultation for  life after the age of 55. For others, it can be declared at the spur of the moment, in 140 characters or less. Chris Brown tweeted on August 6, "Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album. ” Even with the word “probably” thrown in there, Breezy isn’t the first artist in the hip-hop world to announce a premature departure from music. Many other artists have threatened early retirement in order to pursue other endeavors or leave on a high note--only to return later. So, is using the word “retirement” just a publicity stunt nowadays?Retirement must not be as fun as working in the studio since so many artists have returned from the low key life and bounced back into the spotlight. Check out a list of "retirees" below and see where they eventually ended up.1. Jay Z The Black Album in 2003 was supposed to be his last, and his retirement from 2004 through 2006 was filled with work as the president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. If that wasn’t enough, he also went on a world tour and was featured on several hit records. Jay-Z came out of his faux retirement in 2006 with the album Kingdom Come, and hasn’t looked back ever since. Ever heard of Watch the Throne? Or maybe Magna Carta Holy Grail? He even does performance art now.2. Lupe FiascoThis outspoken rapper announced his retirement in September 2012 following a Twitter feud with Chief Keef saying, “This album will probably be my last...its been a pleasure to have all my fans provide so much love an inspiration for me and my family. But my heart is broken and I see no comfort further along this path only more pain. I cannot participate any longer in this..” Lupe later clarified that he will “eventually” retire from music. He currently has two projects in the works for 2013: Tetsuo & Youth and Peace of Paper/Cup of Jayzus.2. 50 CentOr should we say, the king of “maybe”? If he’s not feeling something or is tired of anything, it seems like 50 Cent is always floating around the idea of retirement. He’s been working on his fifth album Street King Immortal since 2010 and doesn’t seem to be too worried about the hiatus. "I want the record to be right. I'm not doing it without a plan," he told MTV Newsrecently.4. Waka Flocka FlameI'm gonna retire from the industry," Waka said on an episode of "RapFix Live" in August 2011. Waka Flocka announced his retirement, saying that he “wants to sidestep the politics of the rap game and focus on his artistic pursuits.” Frustrated with how he was being treated in the game, Flocka added that he’d “rather work at Walmart than rap.” His post-retirement plans centered around “using his music to help the youth" but less than a year later, he changed his mind and released his sophomore album Triple F Life in June 2012 saying, “ I don’t see myself quitting no more.”5. Kid Cudi Similar to Waka Flocka, Cudi was upset with how he was being treated in the industry as an emerging artist back in 2009. In an interview with RocYouFM News he shared, “"I'm a human being, you know what I'm saying? Things stress me out. Like fame, this whole Kid Cudi thing. It's hard to make that transition, because I'm just a regular guy.” Cudi set out to pursue his acting career and make music for his “real fans.” It seems like he was pursuing a comedy career because his retirement, like many other artists, was a joke. Cudder releasedMan on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager in 2010 and 2013’s Indicud in April.

LATE AT NIGHT

It's late at night Gentle Reader. Soon I'll be heading to bed to get some rest.   Night has replaced the day.  The moon and the stars has replaced the sun.  I'm not sure if birds are flying outside or if the birds are now sleeping in their nests tonight.  Yeah, there are animals who are nocturnal who are only awake when it's dark out.  And those nocturnal animals are coming alive once again.  Yeah, it's night.  Daytime has become a thing of the past.  Yesterday's memories are being made today.  And soon I'll get to see what tomorrow is like mere seconds from now.And as I'm lost in thought as I look at the ticking clock, here are some photos of Jessica Szohr.

A peek at menu for CMS, CPCC bonds

A November referendum on bonds for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Central Piedmont Community College won't be locked in until August, but county commissioners' approval of a capital plan last week makes it a pretty sure thing.CMS and CPCC leaders are talking about the best way to present their needs and plans, while the folks at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce are kicking around strategies and names for a bond campaign. Publicly-funded bodies can't spend money to influence an election, so there's always a careful line between the public  "bond information" campaigns and the privately-funded "vote yes" push.Mecklenburg County' five-year capital plan will provide $290 million for CMS and $210 million for CPCC, says county Finance Director Dena Diorio. Here's how projects break down under that plan:In 2014-15, the county would provide money to finish the last of the CMS 2007 bond projects: A new school to relieve crowding at Highland Creek Elementary and renovations to Hawthorne High.  Other 2014-15 projects would be:*Work at Alexander Middle in Huntersville, Myers Park High, Olympic High and Statesville Road Elementary (see details of CMS projects here).*Reopening Oakhurst and Starmount as elementary schools.* Construction of a new preK-8 school in west Charlotte, a new K-8 language immersion school in east Charlotte and a replacement for Nations Ford Elementary on the campus of Waddell Language Academy.* Buying land for a new K-8 magnet in the Ballantyne area and an expansion of Northridge Middle School.* For CPCC, doing work on the Giles Science Building and Cato Campus,  plus buying land for projects at the Levine,  Central and Merancas campuses. In 2015-16,  CMS would get money for projects at East Mecklenburg and South Mecklenburg high schools and Northwest School of the Arts.  CPCC would launch projects at the Levine and Harper campuses. In 2016-17,  CMS would launch work at Northridge, Selwyn Elementary and five preK-8 schools,  while CPCC would get money for a Central Campus project and Terrell renovation/expansion.In 2017-18,  CMS would build the new Ballantyne-area K-8 magnet, convert Davidson Elementary to a K-8 school and do career-technology improvements at Garinger, Independence, West Mecklenburg and North Mecklenburg high schools.  CPCC would get money for a Hendrick Automotive expansion,  renovation/expansion to the Advanced Technology Center and the Merancas Campus project.
